Ather Anis, MD, FACC

Dr. Anis joined Winchester Cardiology in July of 2008 after completing his fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the Boston University School of Medicine. Prior to his interventional cardiology fellowship, he completed fellowships in Cardiovascular Diseases from University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey, and Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine from Thomas Jefferson University. He has had an internship for Internal Medicine at DC General Hospital, along with General Surgery and Internal Medicine internships at Jinnah Hospital in Lahore, Pakistan after completing his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan.

Dr. Anis is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Nuclear Cardiology. He is board eligible in Interventional Cardiology and Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Anis specializes in Interventional Cardiology and Peripheral Vascular Interventions.

Edward V. Bonyak, MD, FACC

Dr. Bonyak received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. He completed medical school at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in 1989. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Virginia in 1992, and completed a fellowship in cardiology at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in 1996, serving as Chief Fellow during the final year of fellowship. He served as a faculty member in the department of internal medicine at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center from 1992 to 1993.

Dr. Bonyak is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the American Heart Association. He has been board certified in internal medicine since 1992, cardiovascular medicine since 1996, and interventional cardiology since 2000.

Dr. Bonyak joined the Winchester Cardiology in July 1996. He offers cardiovascular services in consultative cardiology, cardiac catheterization and intervention, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography and stress echocardiography.

Frederic T. Farra, MD, FACC

Dr. Farra received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in 1972 and his medical degree from the University of Maryland in 1977. He served his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Maryland and Baltimore VA Hospitals from 1977-1980. His fellowship in cardiology was completed at the Milton Hershey Medical Center of Penn State University in 1982.

Dr. Farra joined Winchester Cardiology. in 1988 after being in private practice in Tennessee for six years. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. He specializes in invasive and noninvasive procedures including cardiac catheterization, balloon angioplasty and stenting, rotational atherectomy, pacemaker implantation, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology.

James G. Warner, Jr., M.D., Ed.D.

Dr. Warner received his master's degree and a doctor of Education in exercise physiology prior to entering medical school. He completed medical school at West Virginia University in 1989. He completed his residency in internal medicine at University of Virginia in 1992, followed by a fellowship in cardiology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 1995. He served as a faculty member in the Section of Cardiology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine from 1995-1999.

Board certified in cardiology since 1995, Dr. Warner is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a member of the Epidemiology Section of the American Heart Association, and a member of the American Society of Echocardiography. He is a past President of the Forsyth County, North Carolina Division of The American Heart Association.

Dr. Warner has been an author or co-author in more than 20 peer-reviewed medical journals as well as a co-author of two book chapters. He has made presentations at several national cardiology meetings.

In addition to cardiology consultation, he provides cardiovascular services including cardiac catheterization, interventional cardiology, transthoracic echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography, carotid Dopplers, renal Dopplers and lower extremity arterial noninvasive studies.

Dr. Warner has provided cardiovascular services in Winchester, VA since 1999. He has served as the Medical Director of the Heart & Vascular Center at Winchester Medical Center from 2003 through 2009. He was named one of the Best Doctor's in America for 2005-2006 and 2007-2008.

Jason T. Call, MD, FACC

Dr. Call received his undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia and then went to Vanderbilt University where he obtained his doctorate of medicine. He completed his internship and residency at Duke and then went to Wake Forest for general and interventional cardiology training.

Dr. Call has obtained additional training in vascular medicine and is board certified in vascular medicine as well as endovascular therapy. He is also board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, and interventional cardiology and is a registered physician in vascular interpretation.

In addition to general cardiology and interventional cardiology, Dr. Call has a special interest in helping people who are suffering from a variety of vascular disorders such as Peripheral Vascular Disease, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms, and Carotid Artery Disease.

J. Dixon Brown, MD, FACC

Dr. Brown received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1975. He received his medical degree from Penn State at Hershey in 1979. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 1984. He is a Fellow of The American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Brown has been practicing cardiology at Winchester Cardiology since 1984. He is currently board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and nuclear cardiology.

Dr. Brown provides a wide range of cardiology services, including the implantation of both permanent and biventricular pacemakers for heart failure, as well as echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography, nuclear stress testing, angioplasty, including cutting balloons and stents, diagnostic cardiac catheterization, rotablator and directional atherectomy procedures, intravascular ultrasound and pressure wire assessment of coronary physiology. In addition, he reads peripheral vascular ultrasound studies.

Manish J. Lakhani, M.D.

Dr. Lakhani joined Winchester Cardiology in August of 2008 after completing his fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine at the State University of New York (SUNY), Downstate Health Science Center in Brooklyn, New York. Prior to his cardiovascular medicine fellowship, he completed a Research Fellowship at SUNY and worked as a Hospitalist at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Dr. Lakhani completed his Internal Medicine Residency at New York Medical College in Queens, New York. He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at B.J. Medical College in Ahmedabad, India.

Dr. Lakhani is board certified in Internal Medicine, Level II Cardiac CT and Echocardiography. He is board eligible for Cardiovascular Disease.

Dr. Lakhani specializes in Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Imaging and Cardiac Catheterizations.

Melanie D. Mattson, MD, FACC

Dr. Mattson received her undergraduate degree from Northeast Louisiana University and her medical degree from Louisiana State University in 1987. She served her internship and residency in internal medicine at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, VA from 1987-1990. She was a fellow in cardiology at the University of Kentucky from 1990-1993. She was in a group practice in Lexington, Kentucky prior to joining Winchester Cardiology & Internal Medicine, Inc.

Dr. Mattson joined Winchester Cardiology in July 1994. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiology. She provides a full range of cardiology services including cardiac catheterization, balloon angioplasty and stenting, transesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography and reading peripheral vascular ultrasound studies.

Dr. Mattson is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and American College of Chest Physicians.

Trisha B. Nashed, MD, FACC

Dr. Nashed received her undergraduate and medical degree from the University of Miami. She completed medical school in 1997. She did her Internship and residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond from 1997-2000. She continued at the Medical College of Virginia to do fellowship training in cardiology.

Dr. Nashed joined Winchester Cardiology in July 2003. She is certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She specializes in invasive and noninvasive procedures including cardiac catherization, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology as well as clinical and critical care medicine.

Dr. Nashed is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association.
